I’m a Berkeley, CA-based writer, researcher, editor, Spanish language student and budding educator. I worked in journalism for 15 years, focusing mostly on science, technology and business writing including a stint as a corporate copywriter and researcher. An archive of published work is available in the Morgue.
I’m entering a new phase of my life and will enter Mills College in August to get a California teaching credential in English. I hope to share my enthusiasm for reading, writing and literature with my students. In my previous life, I worked and wrote for print and online media such as Wired, the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists, Crain’s Chicago Business, Chicago Magazine, Monocle, and BusinessWeek.com. For an in-depth CV and professional history go to my LinkedIn page. I’ve also worked for corporate and agency clients such as IBM, Samsung, BBDO and others. For IBM’s 100th anniversary, I helped create the THINK exhibit and an accompanying book. The multimedia extravaganza was installed at Lincoln Center, included eight-foot tall interactive panels, a short film and a fifty-foot data visualization wall. It won many design and business awards and has since been installed permanently at Disney’s Epcot Center in Orlando, FL.
I have been known to tweet, but not that often. Contact me via social media or by sending email to SL at this domain.
